Excerpts from my new novel, Vatican Vengeance

Greetings.  Thank you for visiting my blog.  Listed below are a few excerpts from my soon to be released new eBook novel.

Excerpt From Chapter 4

When Colton finished confessing his sins and exited the church, Father Carlos remained seated inside the confessional. Never before had he absolved a man of so many violent sins—two of which were deaths, albeit in self-defense, if he spoke the truth.

What troubled the priest the most was that the stranger said his last confession was only a month prior. The sins that he confessed were far more severe than his usual gamut of lust, gossip, and harsh language. Dear Lord, the man seemed such a gentle devout spirit. What in Heaven or Hell’s name had caused him such misery?

Excerpt From Chapter 13

Colton was about to reply when a sudden roar of loud exhausts surprised them as three Harleys roared past the car, then cutting abruptly back into their lane and slowed.

“This isn’t good,” said Colton, as he hit his brakes slowing the car from 50 to 30 mph.

Maggie glanced behind them and saw four more bikes behind them. “It sure isn’t. What are we going to do?”

“It depends on what they have in mind,” replied Colton.

Maggie was shocked how quickly Colton’s entire demeanor had changed. His voice was confident, but cold.  The passionate, kind man of seconds earlier was gone.

“I’ll call 911,” offered Maggie as she reached into her purse for her cell.

‘No, don’t do that. We don’t need more deputies getting hurt.”

“Colton, what about us?” she asked incredulously. “These guys mean business.”

“So do I,” Colton replied icily.

The stretch of highway was between two towns with minimal traffic. Colton lifted his foot from the accelerator.  “Hold on,” he said, before abruptly turning down an isolated, dirt road that led into the woods, the suspension of the car protesting audibly as it bounced up and down along the rutted dirt road.

“Colton, what are you doing? Where are you going?” Maggie asked while bracing her left hand on the roof of the car and her right on the seat.

The four bikes that were following stayed with him. The three others that had been ahead of them quickly U-turned and joined the others, following the car deeper into the forest.

“I want to get away from the main road.”

“Why would you want to do that?” Maggie asked with obvious exasperation in her voice.

“To show them I’m not afraid of them, and to assure that no one interferes with us.”

Colton suddenly jammed on the brakes. The car slid to a sudden stop. “Do not get out of this car, no matter what. Stay inside.”

Maggie grabbed his right arm as he opened the door with his left. “Colton, please don’t do this. There are seven of them!”

“I know, that was their first mistake, sending so few.”
